Sokan mondják, hogy a kutyának a kertben van a helye… Mindjárt itt a tavasz, és mindenkit várunk a Szimpla Kutya kutyabarát vásárra és piknikre március 24-én, 12 órától 19 óráig a Kutyabarát.hu és a Szimpla Kert szervezésében a Szimpla Kertben, ahol a kézműves kellékek, kutyabarát termékek beszerzésén túl az érdeklődők megoszthatják a kutyás városi lét tapasztalatait. A rendezvény idejére lezárjuk a Kazinczy utca egy részét is!!!

A kutyáknak rendelkeznie kell a kötelező mikrochippel és érvényes oltási könyvvel. Tüzelő, beteg vagy agresszív kutyákat a rendezvényre tilos hozni! Kutyakaki felszedéséről és eltüntetéséről minden gazda saját kutyája után köteles gondoskodni! A kutyák által okozott bármilyen kárért a gazda a felelős. A rendezvényről film és fotók is készülhetnek. A rendezvényt mindenki saját felelősségére látogatja. A házirend a rendezvényre való belépéssel lép életbe.

House regulations:
All dogs must have the compulsory microchip and a valid vaccination booklet. Dogs in heat, sick or aggressive dogs cannot be brought to the event. Every owner must clean up after their own dogs. For any damage caused by the dogs, the owner shall be held responsible. The event will be filmed and photos will be taken. Everybody shall visit the event at their own responsibility. The house regulations are valid when the visitor enters the premises.

Szimpla Treasures - treasure hunt in Kazinczy

As you may have already noticed (in the last more than ten years): we like change and innovation in Szimpla. All the projects we have started in the last few years could be listed at some length without any flatulence, starting from Szimpla Balaton, organising street festivals, through the theatre project of Szimpla and setting the delicacies of the Farmers’ market available in the city everyday. Our and others’ long standing obsession is to surround ourselves with exciting objects and decorations, we decorate our home or Szimpla itself. This thing has a central figure but he usually withdraws to the background modestly, Benedek Kópis, who made quite a few people, Hungarian or foreigner smile with his blog called Ágy-Asztal-Tv and his superb activity in the Szimpla Design Shop.


He recently told us about the time when his idea was born to create a place where old, antique objects and the newest, coolest contemporary design objects can be together in harmony. His old dream was to attract the online community he created into a real space, where people can meet and discuss what they have “talked about” in front of the screen and make it possible to speak about design and interiors in real life. So this is how the shop was born, the Szimpla Design Shop and its basic concept is growing into a unique fair where you will find antiques and brand new products beside each other.

It means a different theme every month from September with five different basic themes in the first five months. For example, we focus on ceramics and glassware on the first occasion on the 10th September, and on the antique and modern metal objects in October. The whole thing starts all over in February, so the five thematic blocks are repeated starting a circle, such a repetition that will provide some experience and demands will be outlined well. The speciality of the fair is that the customers can get the worth of a given object checked by official valuers so they’ll see if the product is worth its price. The expertise of the valuers helps to find out the age, origin and place of production, etc. of the objects. Ben emphasised that it’s very important for him to make those meet who are experts in the topics and those people who are interested in them in a space that is based on such products (also literally) and to make searching the internet and the often uncertain results touchable and enable participants to tell personally what they think, what questions, problems and ideas they have.

The fair has a very important element, that there is a bilingual workshop that is connected to the main theme, on the first occasion visitors can create objects by the help of Made by You ceramics and painting workshop.

A very important momentum of the fair is that you can buy a Szimpla Treasures badge and the income from the sale goes to a different non-governmental organisation each time, and an online magazine will write about the fair which will add up to be a printed catalogue in every half year.

So we are inviting you for a treasure hunt organised by the Szimpla Design Shop. It is a topical fair organised every month where antiques and contemporary designs can be together in harmony.

The program of the first five occasions (on the second Saturday of each month):

10th September 2016. Vol. 1: ceramic, porcelain, terracotta, glass and concrete and any recycled creations made in these areas.

8th October 2016. Vol. 2: textiles, carpets, lamps, antique and contemporary metal objects, boxes, bags and suitcases and any recycled creations made in these areas.

12th November 2016. Vol. 3: photos, posters, graphics, prints, ink drawings, picture frames.

10th December 2016. Vol. 4: antique and modern toys, contemporary jewelry and antique trinkets, antique clocks, antique musical instruments, records, Christmas tree ornaments.

14th January 2017. Vol.5: military, numismatics, stamps, models, paper antiques and antique technical objects.

Szimpla Farmers' Market for everyone -

Szimpla Farmers' Market. We can say that the market is already well known in the district and not only there but in whole Budapest and also abroad as there is already such a Farmers' Market in Berlin. One year, several dozens of occasions, and hundreds of programs, and what is most important it is self-sustaining. Organised by ELTE University's Human ecology Department and Szimpla Kert, the market provides what citizens, suburban people, youngsters, the elderly, school kids, university students, girls, boys, mothers, grandmas, family men, bachelors, agriculture experts, hipsters, etc. need. At least it seems as we look back on the last more than one year. The market started last October, so this is the first such initiative in Budapest. In the first half year it wasn't organised every week but it has grown and improved every time. Since 10th June you can visit the market every Sunday from 9 am until 2 pm, and on 25th November (on Katalin day) we organised the 25th market. More than 25 thousand people have visited us, 65 different producers and farmers provided their products and we tried to entertain the guest with a lot of interesting and different programs.

The children have seen puppet shows played creative games, the Szimpla Band has played great music (even when it rained cats and dogs) giving the market a special atmosphere. There was slam poetry, readings, remembering Kazinczy, films, music jams, dancing, fashion show, spontaneous events and so on. It's good to see that the people who come to sell their product leave satisfied and they come back again and again. It's worth coming back as there are more and more interested customers. Many people know the market at Klauzál square, there is a big Spar taking the place of the stalls and the conditions are terrible. The Farmers' Market is a place not only for shopping for food but a communal space to eat, enjoy live music with great people. Gábor Bertényi, one of the founders of Szimpla) answered to the question if the good days of markets are over: "I don't think so as it is a well-established, few thousand-year-old institution, without it, the I cannot imagine a city. The market is not only a shopping place but a forum and a meeting point. In the current context the market in the capital -or the lack of it - tells a lot about the relationship between Budapest and the countryside.

 I mean that the market could be the natural connection between the people where the citizens can meet the farmers and people working in agriculture (which are soon to be extinct jobs). The market gives an opportunity to these last ones and to the knowledge they have which would be lost as the home gardening is getting forgotten. Based on the authentic products and the sellers it could turn out that the countryside is more than a parcel with utilities or a lawn rectangle surrounded by thuja-trees where the air is fresh but Budapest is too far, unfortunately." How essential part of a city is the market is proven by the Berlin/Kreuzberg example, where a civilian group made the local municipal get rid of the big company from the old market hall of the district. The Markthalle Neun was reopened by civilians, it functions as a market, where you can buy food, vegetables and fruits and also handmade products. There are also special programs, from slow food to home-made pálinka. This initiative is a great example and educational as there is a market hall very close to Szimpla Kert and that needs such rehabilitation also. That's why on 24th November the Szimpla Farmers' Market was a guest of Markthalle Neun as part of a field trip. Ten Hungarian producers products were sold and the success was unexpectedly huge. As a result (although less wide range of products) it will be repeated every Saturday until Christmas. And the leaders of the Markthalle Neun will be introduced at a conference in Szimpla Kert.

Here is a call for those who’d like to take part in selling-vending and boardening the supply:

In Hungary food stores are flooded with bad quality bulk goods that have to travel thousands of kilometers before arriving to the store shelves. Those who seek healthy and fresh food are searching in vain. Family gardens have no gap on domestic food market, most of the farmers just stop growing plants becouse of hindrances in selling. It is our common interest changing the situation. There are more and more gardened goods markets all over Hungary but there are dozens of obstacles.

For encouraging and popularizing the gardened goods movement we decided to open one, named Simply Sunday, on every Sunday in the heart of Budapest: in the 7th district. On 10th June the market opens its gates at 9:00AM at the well-known Szimpla Kert. For the operation of the market the ’Az Élhető Erzsébetvárosért Assotiation (AZÉRT 7)’ and the ’Agri Kulti Pjt’ are responsible. Latter already runs a market at Nagymaros.

 The inhabitants and tourism of the surroundings, the constant growth of demand for good quality aliments makes us believe that the market will be crowded for contentment of both sellers and buyers. The success depens on the farmers, too: whether they can unite to show the delicate home-made food supply in it’s diversity. We count on you, too – please bring your goods on Sundays to Szimpla Kert.

Just those articles of food will be sold at the market that are registered by us and come from reliable farmers. All kinds of aliments are welcome that are allowed to be sold by law, except red meat and fish. Our goal is to make customers meet authentic growers and not to meet the vendors of huge markets such as the ’Nagybani’ market.
