Festival for Ferenc Kazinczy and Sunday Farmers' Market

On 28th October during the last Szimpla festival this year the focus is on two seemingly distant things: Ferenc Kazinczy was born 253 years ago and the Szimpla Farmers' Market is one year old. Maybe they are not that far from each other as our most famous language reformer would be happy to see how many people get together to enjoy and buy so many kinds of delicacies and get engaged in friendly chatting while tasting them or learn something new or play music together for a whole day. We are really hoping that autumn, that we were looking forward to and celebrated with a festival not long ago, will be nice to us on this Sunday; so we could celebrate and enjoy the delicacies and greet the master from Széphalom in lovely and sunny weather.

What can be expected and be prepared for on the last Sunday of October? The Farmers' Market is open from 9 am. You can buy different products from more than 30 farmers. Every hour we are going to read aloud from Ferenc Kazinczy's work, poems, autographical pieces, memoirs, and funny works. We will recall the era when the language reform became a conscious effort. At 10 am the Bélaműhely's musical instrument caressing starts, and also the whole day long musical craze. So we would like to encourage everybody again that if you feel the power and the motivation, please bring your musical instrument and join the jam session. We thought about the little ones also, at 10:30 the Majorka Puppet Theatre performs Babszemjankó. An hour later the Napkerék Égszínház performs their fabulous soap opera.
The traditional Szimpla cauldron and communal cooking is waiting for you at noon. Lunch by Dizájnmenza (Design Canteen) and the Hentesnél evők baráti köre (Friends eating at butchers'). The income is used to buy food for a family in need and delivered by the Budapest Bike Maffia as usual. As charity was mentioned, let's not forget how great it would be if the Street of Culture was a pedestrian street. On Sunday please do not forget to take the time to sign our petition. We will make sure you won't miss the opportunity to help this initiative. You can visit the Hétkerék Szimpla Bringa Pince (Seven Wheels Bike basemant). Do you know how to put oil on your chains? Do you have a flat tire? Come and we are going to teach you the basic bike repairs. First we show you then it's your turn. You can learn about the most essential information about bikes, repairing, equipment, settings. The location is the shop at Kazincy St. 7. Registration is necessary. Please send an email to this address: szimplahetkerek@gmail.com

Péter Závada (poet, slammer) is our guest from1 pm. We are going to talk about modern language reform, the poetry of the 21st century, slamming and he is going to show what he can do with Hungarian. We are going to enjoy ourselves until 5 pm to celebrate these two events. If you are hiding a poem, short story, a song or anything that is connected with language reform, cooking something delicious in your drawer, or you have something that you want to show the world, please bring them with you.
